How I pray for this nation

As I sit here listening to my breadmaker mix the dough for raisin cinnamon bread, I am using this time to pray for our nation. Prayer is speaking to the Lord.  I seldom speak memorized prayers, but  I think the best way to pray for our nation is to remember the Lord's Prayer.  I will explain,
'Our Father'  He is our heavenly Father and deserves our praise, attention, love, just like that of a Father.

'Who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.'  So often folks forget what the word 'hallowed' means 'holy, sacred, set apart from anything else'

'Thy kingdom come,'   We are calling down God's kingdom here on earth.  A kingdom of righteousness, justice, peace, order of such we have never had an inkling of.

'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven' This is so powerful, yet we pass on by with our memory of the prayer.  We ask for God's own will to be done here on earth.  His will is love and mercy of course.  Yet it is also justice.  He is a just God.  Think of a court judge who hands down the verdict by way of the law.  Our God has made commandments and we can read them in His word.  His will be done is nothing like we might understand.  This is what I pray over this nation.  God's ways are higher than our government's ways.

'Give us this day our daily bread'  We pray this with the understanding that our Father will provide for our needs no matter the circumstances.  When we don't deserve it, He still provides.

'Forgive us our debts [trespasses] as we forgive others or [those who trespass against us] '  So, if we forgive not those who have hurt us, God will not forgive us.  Plain and simple and written in His word.  If this country does not start asking for forgiveness for not following after God's word...I hate to think of what our nation will become. It already has been turning far away from God's will.

'Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil'  Our God is more than able to deliver us from evil.  He is the God who made our enemy.  He is the overcoming, all inclusive and ever lasting God. There is evil in this world, but He has overcome the world.

'For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever'  We acknowledge God as King of all with ultimate and supreme rule forever.  When we think of how much that encompasses, it is staggering.  Beyond our body. our neighborhood, our state, country or even this world.  He created the universe and all that is in it. Nothing anywhere is beyond His control.  He created science and yet our feeble minds try to exclude him from existence through it.  It's laughable really.  As I think of the enormous needs of our country. It is so assuring to know that I am speaking to the Almighty.  This supreme King of everything is listening to this little woman.  Staggering.  Yet, He is listening and acting on my behalf thousands of times more than I can even imagine.

He cares about the great and powerful things, and he cares if my raisin bread tastes good.  I live in perfect peace amongst the trials and am able to pray for those suffering through the worst floods. Prayers are extremely more powerful than our minds imagine.   I can be joyful even if I am suffering. He is with me.

Amen!  Which actually means  'So be it!'  Yes!  Hallalujah!  [Praise God]
