An Everlasting Life

Recently I had the opportunity to speak at my mother's funeral.  It was a sad time yet it was also a time for rejoicing for those who knew Christ.

I am pleased to say that my mother indeed knew Christ as her savior and Lord.  She spent many quiet hours in presence of God.  She prayed for the family and friends on a regular basis.

Mom is not dead in the spirit sense.  She merely changed her residence.  She now lives in heaven.  This is a hard teaching for those who do not understand the workings of God.

Yet, the word of God is easy to understand if you seek to find.  Many people seek to disqualify the message of God as ludicrous or just a religious thing that makes weak people happy.

The Lord knew there would be scoffers in this age.  There were scoffers when Jesus walked the earth.  This does not make the truth less truthful.  It does make it harder for those who want proof though.

Hebrews 11:4 'Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.'

Everything I write about can be disputed by those who have no faith.  Yet, it is not my job to force anyone to believe.  I merely magnify the Lord.  I am a representative of Christ.  If you hate me, you hate the one who I represent.  I take no offense.  I do pray that you will come to know the joy, the peace and the power of the Holy Spirit that my mother and I have known.

How can you know this Jesus?  If I were just starting to question whether He is real or not, I would begin by praying.  That would be first for me.  To talk to a God I am not sure exists is an act of faith.  Ask if He will make himself known to you.  I would then look for a church that preaches the word of God.  Sit and listen to what the pastor teaches.  Read what the word of God says through the eyes of one who wishes to find Him...not just to read a book.

The Lord himself will reveal himself to you through many ways.  You will be amazed.

I remember looking down into my mother's casket and saw a peaceful look on her face.  She was not in that casket, only her earthly body was.  She passed on to life everlasting.
