Do You Love Well?

This year I am not writing any short stories.  I've been thinking it over and I believe the Lord is having me write some posts about other things.

So often I have written about marriage, funny things in a marriage and how to keep the marriage alive. 'Weezy's tips for wives'.
This morning I am writing about the little things that really tickle this lady.  My husband goes to church for a men's breakfast twice a month.  He gets up very quiet and leaves the light off.  I never hear him get ready but sometimes I hear the door shutting or the car start up.  He is so careful not to awaken me.

His thoughtful ways always make me smile.  I do not get flowers all the time or fancy jewels.  But, his thoughtful ways are the things that light up my life.  He always tells me that I am pretty too.  My hair is getting a little grayer [when I do not dye it] and my teeth are a bit crooked.  I see wrinkles around my eyes and I know I am getting older.

Yet, love covers over a multitude of sins.  He sees me pretty much the same way I see him.  I see beautiful big blue eyes that sparkle and shine.  I can tell how he is feeling by how much they sparkle.

After 38 years of marriage, I am still amazed that we still hug in the kitchen each morning.  The first week we were married, he saw me in my bathrobe in the kitchen making breakfast.  He scooped me up in his arms and didn't let go for a long time.  Breakfast nearly burned that morning.  He's done it every morning since.

In the evening after my shower, he always comes over to smell the baby powder on me.  He like perfume , but the smell of a fresh powdered wife always makes him smile.

I love the way he'll break into a three stooges act at no particular time at all.  He has a comedian living inside of him that creeps out at the funniest times, for no reason at all.

When we go for a drive, he puts his hand on my knee without thinking.  It's those little things that I think is romantic.  This Valentine's day we will probably share a box of chocolates while watching the news.  I might get a card, I might not.  No matter.  For me, Valentine's day is every day of the year.
