Song of Solomon Chapter 2:10-13
"My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance, Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."
Sherm and Weezy were in their truck cruising down the sunny highway. Weezy loved to watch the palm trees as they raced by. They were coming home from the beach. The sunrise was at 7:24 a.m. that day and they had gotten up early and brought coffee mugs to the beach to see it.
They sat like newlyweds with arms wrapped around each other. [It was cold at 51 degrees since they were used to the 90 degree weather for so long]
As the sun rose from the navy blue ocean and spread golden rays to the sky, Weezy let out a sigh. "I see it so often but it's new each time."
Sherm was busy with his camera trying to adjust the lens to get the perfect shot of seagulls flying in formation against the blue, red, and golden sky. The sunrise sets off a miriade of colors off the coast of Florida.
Soon, they were back in the truck and on their way home. "Weezy, it's so amazing that God brought us down here. I remember when we were first married and lived down here. We never saw anything this spectacular though"
Weezy sat back and relaxed as she sipped the last of her coffee. "How long ago was that Sherm?" The couple sat and realized that it had been 35 years. They had gotten married at 18 in 1975.
All of a sudden Weezy began to laugh. "Oh my goodness, I forgot next week is our anniversary!"
Shermie grinned as he drove. "I forgot too, I can't believe it. We both forgot!"
"I can remember when I was getting a yellow rose for each year we were married. Until it got too expensive. Then, we went on a cruise to the Bahamas once too. Oh, then we went to fancy restaurants and I got a tennis bracelet, diamond ring, gold necklaces."
Sherm thought for a moment. "What should we do this year?"
Weezy giggled. "Let's do something fun. How about we try out that new restaurant for breakfast. The one where you eat outside watching the ocean. Then we can just goof off at the beach. I'll bake a pineapple upside down cake for later."
Shermie smiled. "Well, that sounds great. No gifts?"
"For heavens sakes Sherm, we are each other's gift. Besides, we did all that expensive stuff all ready. The real fun is now."
Sherm pulled into the parking lot and laughed. "I better write down the date just in case we forget again though. Let's see Oct. 27th."
"No, silly! It's the 21st"
The couple went inside to check the marriage certificate to be sure. The neighbors couldn't figure out why those two are always laughing.
Turns out their anniversary was the 24th, Sherm's birthday was on the 21st of the next month, and Weezy's birthday was March 27th. "For heaven's sakes!" Weezy giggled. A sillouette could be seen as Weezy turned to Sherm and said. "I am my beloved's and he is mine."
